A big thanks to Peggy for showing me what she didn’t know! Below is a copy of her experience from “comments” and images she wanted to share…

In this current culture of “hurry up and wait” I have a true inhibition of road trips. That’s right. It is just a waste of time to spend mile after mile and hour after hour cruising down the highway when I can hop on an airplane and be there in short order, enjoy the acitivities of the planned destination, hop back on that airplane and return to my everyday life.
Oh wait! The reason for a trip is to put the “everyday” aside and enjoy something new and interesting! So, here it goes. My first official road trip as an adult. After much planning I am ‘on the road’ for this new adventure.
Can’t wait to see “what I don’t know.”

I have returned from an awesome road trip! There were so many things I didn’t know:
1) I didn’t know how much fun it is to be spontaneous and change the itinerary when you see something unusual to do; spend the night on an island that has access on and off by ferry only or visit lighthouses.
2) I didn’t know how interesting it is to see ‘real life’ when you take a wrong turn and end up driving down an out-of-the way street.
3) I didn’t know how liberating it is to shop and not worry about the weight or the size of your purchases in order to fly them home; souvenirs, fruit stands, yard sales and more!
4) I didn’t know how challenging it is to watch the miles and hours slip by quicker than those on the planned itinerary!
After only 3,644 miles, 10 days, 30 national parks, 3 famous restaurants, 2 reality shows, 2 NFL football stadiums, 8 light houses, 3 NASCAR speedways, 3 beaches, an estate, a fruit stand, and a museum, I am back home and I had a wonderful time!
What I ‘still’ don’t know….. whether I will make another road trip soon. As much fun as I had, and as much as I learned, I still love to fly!
