Patrick at The Doughnut Vault, 401 1/2 N Franklin St., Monday-Friday starting at 8:00am and Saturday & Sunday at 9:30am until they run out.
Inhibition: To get up early enough to get one of these delicious damn doughnuts (this was my 4th try) and to find an interest in sports.
Betty’s Response: How good can a doughnut be? …and you bike don’t you? Um, that’s a sport.
Experience: This past Thursday it happened! 4th try to experience the Doughnut Vault before they ran out of doughnuts. Patrick served me up a raspberry filled deliciousness that was truly scrumptious. Was it worth the effort? YES! Not to mention this nook of a store is a charming little treasure of Chicago. Outside, there’s a community table to enjoy confectionary delights along side like minded folks…YUM!
Next on my list was a FIFA World Cup soccer game. Today it’s USA vs. Germany and at Grant Park the game is projected for all to see, free entry.
What I didn’t know: Coming from a family that had no interest in sports, I’ve always felt I was missing out on something. Especially after moving to Chicago and witnessing these huge communities of Bears, Cubs, White Sox, Bulls, Chicago Fire, and Blackhawk fans. So in the spirit of wanting to be in a “club” that’s having so much fun I’ll be attending sport events and giving it a go 🙂 Today was very fun, even though the US lost, and I’m definitely interested in checking out more soccer.
So bye for now but before we go Betty and I extend to you the invitation to get out there and SHOW ME WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW!!!!
