Inhibition: …well Betty’s out for this week’s experience however, the Divy Bike System is just a few feet away. Still I’m struggling with the idea of renting a bike with time restrictions and it doesn’t fit into what I had planned to do today for the project.

Betty’s Response: You are such an old lady.

Experience: Ok, so I ditched my plans for this week and decided to take the Divy bike paths. I also committed to spontaneously experience unplanned adventures along the way.

What I didn’t Know: One way to travel using the Divy Bike system is to purchase a one day pass with a debit or credit card. This pass allows you to “check-out” a bike, using an issued code you key in at the bike dock. You then have 30 minutes to get to the next Divy location. At that location, after you dock your bike, your time is your own. Then when you are ready to bike again you repeat the process.

Aside from the 30 minute time restriction (I was more focused on finding the next station than the exploration on the path) and the one station that wouldn’t issue several of us a new check-out code, my experience was a good one. And I can see what a great system it is for tourist and bike-less work commuters. Still with all this said it was really great to get Betty back. Not only is she faster but she’s always on board for an unrestriced adventure!

Also a big thanks to The Bike Lane for a great job repairing Betty’s brakes and tuning her up!

So we’re out for now but before we go here’s a great big invitation to all to get out there and SHOW ME WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW!!!!
