Inhibition: To explore the streets of Chicago without an agenda.
Betty’s Response: Let’s go.
Experience: So this week’s experience began with a quick-fix repair on Betty’s left brake and then we headed out for a spontaneous ride and exploration. But first let me tell you about Let’s Roast Cycles where Betty was repaired. What an awesome shop and the guys were super friendly (dogs too) and Logan, in particular, couldn’t be more acommidating getting Betty and me on our way in 30 minutes..

A quick stop at the Flatiron Arts Building-1579 N. Milwaukee Ave.

The very cool and helpful dudes at Brainstorm Movies, Comics & Games, The Flatiron Building, 1579 N. Milwaukee Ave., Suite 321

Choros a la Chalaca was so deeeelish! Onions, tomatoes, corn, lime juice, marinated and served over 1/2 shelled mussels paired with a refreshing mojito, YUM!

The red door entrance from the street. I’ve pasted this several times but was shy about going in alone.

Jeff Kier and the Grilly Brothers, from the left…Jeff Kier-piano, Lanny Grilly-drums, Scott Hirtenstein-percussion, drums, congas, and Dave Grilly- saxophones, flute, clarinet.
What I didn’t know: That today I’d find a bike shop for “life” 🙂 and that on Thursday night Let’s Roast Cycles has a social bike ride that begins at 8:30! I didn’t know that first Fridays of each month is open studio night at the Flatiron Arts Building and inside is a comic book store you could spend hours in. That the Rainbow Club’s been around since the 1930’s, has great prices on beer, cozy u-shaped booths, killer music, and a photo booth that inspired a calendar with images of Rainbow clubers past that benefits a local food pantry with donations collected (hmmmm maybe Betty and I will check out how many photo booths we can find throughout Chicago and see where that takes us). I had no idea how much I loved Peruvian food. And last I was clueless to what a friendly and welcoming space Logan Square Studio is not to mention the incredible jazz of Jeff Kier and the Grilly Brothers. Thank you all for extending yourselves to those who pass through that red door.
So for now we’re off but first extending to all, get out there and SHOW ME WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW!!!
