    • A Journey of Exploration Leads to a Happening

Posted at 5:44 pm by jan, on August 19, 2014

Inhibition: To explore the streets of Chicago without an agenda.

      Betty’s Response: Let’s go.

Experience: So this week’s experience began with a quick-fix repair on Betty’s left brake and then we headed out for a spontaneous ride and exploration. But first let me tell you about Let’s Roast Cycles where Betty was repaired. What an awesome shop and the guys were super friendly (dogs too) and Logan, in particular, couldn’t be more acommidating getting Betty and me on our way in 30 minutes..

What I didn’t know: That today I’d find a bike shop for “life” 🙂 and that on Thursday night Let’s Roast Cycles has a social bike ride that begins at 8:30! I didn’t know that first Fridays of each month is open studio night at the Flatiron Arts Building and inside is a comic book store you could spend hours in. That the Rainbow Club’s been around since the 1930’s, has great prices on beer, cozy u-shaped booths, killer music, and a photo booth that inspired a calendar with images of Rainbow clubers past that benefits a local food pantry with donations collected (hmmmm maybe Betty and I will check out how many photo booths we can find throughout Chicago and see where that takes us). I had no idea how much I loved Peruvian food. And last I was clueless to what a friendly and welcoming space Logan Square Studio is not to mention the incredible jazz of Jeff Kier and the Grilly Brothers. Thank you all for extending yourselves to those who pass through that red door.

So for now we’re off but first extending to all, get out there and SHOW ME WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW!!!
