Inhibition: I avoid many art experiences that aren’t modern or contemporary in context because I think I won’t relate to it and it will be boring (as a side note this is an embarrassing admission).
Betty’s response: First of all you’re boring and second you should be embarrassed.
Experience: This week we visited Loyola University Museum of Art.

Welcoming visitors prior to entering the museum is a collaboration between LUMA and Saint Joseph Services Community Center. The Push Pin Gallery features children’s “Artistic Vision and Artistic Expression.”

Here a little boy painted his father and along side the painting are his words of love and admiration for his most special Dad.

An introduction to the theme of the museum, Coronation of the Virgin, late 10th or early 20th century.

Theses were super interesting. In keeping with LUMA’s emphasis on Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque works, displayed here is an evolution of keys during these times.

Again religious in theme, the permanent collection exhibits paintings, sculptures, metalwork and woodwork.
What I didn’t know: …LUMA has a free day on Tuesday, 11-8pm otherwise open Wed-Sun 11-6pm and it’s $8 to enter. The Push Pin gallery was definitely a surprise and very touching, the goldsmith pieces were certainly a highlight, and collectively, as an installation, the entire exhibit was very intriguing. I also had no idea that LUMA will celebrate their 10th anniversary August 22-November 1, 2015 and host Andy Warhol’s Silver Clouds!
So! Betty and I are out for now but extending to you a very hearty invite to get out there, challenge your inhibitions and preconceived notions, and SHOW ME WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW!!!!
