Inhibition: I can get a little bummed out after seeing wild animals in a captive environment.
Betty’s Response: This event benefits global and local conservation and rehabilitation to penguins, right?
Experience: Thursday, October 30, Betty and I headed over to the Shedd Aquarium for their after hours Penguin Hops Release Party.

A tasting before the aquarium’s penguin expert, Lana Vanagasem gives a presentation on Shedd’s initiative on the care, rehabilitation, and training of penguins.

Revolution Brew master Will also explained the process of testing, collecting, and producing beer made from the hops grown by Shedd in their sustainable garden.

…on a side note, did you know the south end of the Art Institute is beautifully lit like this at night?!
What I didn’t know: Well I certainly didn’t know the Shedd grew hops and such a kewwwl collaboration with Revolution Brewery existed. I also had no idea that I would tear-up when a rehabilitated penguin ran from one trainer to another. I didn’t know I’d spend the majority of the evening obsessing over the jelly fish. And last, although I was aware that an American Idol winner would sing later that evening, I didn’t know that a thrilling and beautiful ride through downtown at night would detour the performance.
So with that said Betty and I are off and, as always, inviting you to get out there and SHOW ME WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW!!!
